Y Niwl

I came across this band today and they are a good example of modern surf music revival. They are called Y Niwl and hail from wales, I dont have a clue what the name means but its a pretty decent tune.

Kill Surf City

Surf music is genre of pop music originating in California in the early 60's as mostly instrumentals to dance to although bands like the beach boys and Jan and Dean added a vocal element to it. It has gone through many revivals over the years and there is a strong surf culture behind the music and a dedicated following still.

Image plays a big part in surf style and trashy visuals like the Ed Roth inspired image above are common. I really dig this retro low culture thing and wish to incorporate in somehow into the American project.
